January brought a couple of items of good news concerning Grand Prix Drivers Club members.
Firstly, on Australia Day, Mark Webber was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for his services to motor sport and the community thanks to his charitable efforts.
“It was a bit of a surprise But it is an absolute honour to be recognised at that level” said Mark. His charity work comes through his Mark Webber Foundation.
Seven years ago our member, Mike Wilds, lost his wife Chrissie to cancer however this week he announced that he will marry Penny, his partner for the past three years in the Spring. Mike and his son Anthony will be back racing again this year in the Britcar Series with a Ferrari 458 Challenge following a successful year last year.
The Club sends congratulations to both Mark and Mike.
